Giving You Control When You Need It Most

The Role of the End-of-Life Doula

  • The essence of doula care is to provide non-medical, non-judgmental support and guidance to individuals and families through times of critical, transformative life change.

  • EOL doulas nurture, inform, support, guide, empower and comfort.

  • EOL doulas work with other caregivers and members of the medical team.

  • Doulas foster self-determination in their clients by assisting them in gathering information and encouraging them to make informed choices that are right for them.

  • For client needs outside of the doula’s scope of practice, the doula makes referrals to appropriate professionals and community resources.

  • Doula support is focused on, and adapted to, the unique needs and requirements of each family served.

My Services:

  • Emotional Support of the dying and their loved ones.

  • Helping with Last Wishes: Last wishes could be one last trip out of town or one last trip to their favorite chair.

  • Helping to honor Pre and Post-Death Wishes: A pre-death wish could be to have only family around when the time is near, to have special music playing, praying with family, a final expression of love. A Post-death wish could be to remain in your home for an extended period of time to allow the family to grieve privately. The family may want a special ritual performed.  Accompanying the loved out of their home for the last time.

  • Legacy Work:  Documenting special moments in the life of your loved one. Ex: The first time they met their spouse. The first time they held their child in their arms. Words of wisdom left to the family.

  • Vigil Watch: Staying with the family in the final hours.

  • Companion: To be a companion, to listen, to be present, to spend time with, to comfort and support.

  •   Empowering those facing the end of life
